Random tidbits

So Zach Brock sent out this article on the future of environmentalism to a mailing list about a month ago and I finally got around to reading it today - interesting stuff.

Worked from home today, so I spent the morning reading about registries and the afternoon starting to look for funders for SELF. I also signed up for some potentially useful (and free!) courses on grants at the Foundation Center, which is conveniently located across the street from SELF/ERT. I didn't get any home runs so far with the SELF stuff, but started to reorient myself to this type of searching.

In other news, Kim is the first one who's started the process of getting a ticket to come to DC for "Olin" gathering that Sarah and I are throwing together for the 4th. Also Dan Rice is shopping around for alternate accomodations in DC, so he might end up joining us at 1200 Jackson.

Senator Wyden has a constituent open house every Tuesday night at 5pm when the Senate's in session so I'm going to go to that tomorrow after work. Should be interesting - I have a funny feeling I might be the only one there, which has it's positives and negatives. I don't really have any pressing issues to talk to him about, but it would be interesting to get the perspective of another Democrat in Congress to counterbalance the perspective that I got from Brad Carson when he was at Wellesley.

Oh and Gap apparently publishes Social Responsibility reports and devotes a reasonable amount of effort at being a socially responsible business; I was surprised. Looks like the stuff I heard about in StartingBloc is at least important enough to be used for PR these days...
